I'm going to try and build our own Machine Nation newsfeed page, where all the news outlets latest news can be seen at a glance on one page.

This will give you some idea.

Now the above one was very easy, but some of the others like Unison or RTE could be tricky so be patient.

Audi, if you go to admin-modules-html, you'll see the page. click on the cogwheel to edit the page and you'll see the javascript one liner that gets the news titles.

Now most are in XML, but they can't be parsed here, because it won't let me embed php. So I think I'll have to parse them on Silverpond and send the text here. Or something.

No, I can't parse them here, unless I can upload or embed php. I don't know if a javascript xml parser exists, I'll have a look tomorrow.

I can parse xml on silverpond:
http://silverpond.eu/refuge/rss/rss2html.php?XMLFILE=http://www.independent.ie/national-news/rss

and then use javascript to grab the output I think, and stick it into the NewsFeed html page on MN. At least, that's the idea.

I'll end up learning irish, webscripting and god knows what else from this little site. I'm already considering cleaning my nostrils with salt and a J-cloth thanks to cactus flower...
