I'm trying to accumulate information like a magpie accumulates stuff. Stop me if it needs a good clearout. This thread is for the blogs you like or have come across and would like to share flower

To each person a post and let them edit it and add their blogs (I know someone is going to jump in now with a super mega website with all the blogs ever in the blogosphere everywhere)

Some I found recently
http://www.cearta.ie/
http://tisiwoota.blogsome.com/
http://forestpolicy.typepad.com/ecoecon/

http://theclareherald.blogspot.com/2008/04/wood-chip-to-fuel-irelands-energy.html

How did i miss this energy seminar in Ennis ?? They are talking about using renewable forests as a future potential source of energy for clare. Does anyone know if there is a website with a comprehensive list of events on around the place? Something which would also have news of seminars like that above.

That blog looks like a comprehensive Clare update for folks who live outside the county/country and want to keep in touch. I came across it be pure accident. If anyone else had anything like that it would be great.

That is interesting about the LED lighting. Mostly in Ireland we use the low sodium lighting that is lower in energy use but makes cyclists strangely invisible. But as you know, I am mostly interested to know why do we keep all this lighting on when there are only a tiny number of people about between say 2 a.m and 6 a.m. in the morning?

Nice site/blog: I wonder if they would link us.

Where I live there is minimal lighting at night and we can still see the stars. People walking at night take torches and/or wear luminous stuff. We carry garlic to ward off the vampires and ghosts. pale

Ireland doesn't look to bad for electricty consumption - we must still be turning off the emersion heater between baths.

Now this is it - the one minute case for everything. Another good idea whipped out from under my temporal lobe ...

That is a great little idea. No one gets to answer back or add on. Concentrates the mind. We could open a forum for it and lock the thread after the first post.

Should we put a blog feed on the portal or are we overloading it with information? (yeah right) What blogs would you recommend putting on the portal in an RSS button? Each button can only show 7 different feeds so maybe we could be selective about the best blogs.

My first one for a vote is Grandad's "Headrambles"

My interest lies mainly in legal blogs (or "blawgs").

Digital Rights Ireland
http://www.digitalrights.ie/

Groklaw (legal news regarding free and open source software)
http://www.groklaw.net/

Lex Ferenda (Irish blog on cyberlaw among other things)
http://www.lexferenda.com/

The Volokh Conspiracy (news and opinion, mainly regarding US Constitutional Law)
http://volokh.com/

I don't know why they all seem to be about cyberlaw. I don't even study it, not yet, I just find it very interesting.

You find law interesting evercloserunion? That tv series Damages is also a courtroom drama isn't it? It's amazing the hard stuff that people are into even though they don't study or anything. I don't mean whiskey now, more like a bit of DIY brain surgery at the weekends can you imagine it Shocked

Hehe, sorry, I study law but I don't study cyberlaw. I'm going into second year Law in Trinity. Still covering the core subjects, but I'd like to study cyberlaw later on.

I am into whiskey though, makes the DIY brain surgery more fun Wink

Well I'm going to find blogs with RSS feeds so that's a good range of cyberlaw ones or ciderlaw if it's under a bush drinking at the weekend.

The cyber part of it must still be getting written big style as I said before to johnfas - what is legal and illegal on the web? Sites like this could be breaking copyright or something left right and centre. In fact, notdevsson on p.ie keeps screaming not to print a whole article in a post. Why not? If you reference it then surely it's ok - the publication is giving their news away free anyway. When does it become illegal? Or coyright or whatever?

This isn't a blog, but I'd like if the Alex cartoon in the Telegraph could be linked on the Portal. It's a very funny take on the world of high finance. youngdan, rockyracoon, Squire and so many more would like it.

Don't worry Ard-Taoiseach it doesn't have to be a blog. This one isn't either - it's from some dude, Michael Pidgeon (?) who seems to have whipped our idea for the Party Manifestos panel on the portal Shocked

We'll have to replace that panel with a link to Pidgeon's site.

Ah, Michael Pidgeon! He's down near yourself in Clare at the University of Limerick. He's a member of the Young Greens and goes by the name of Pidge on P.ie. cookie and him are somewhat estranged.

I would love for Alex to have its own panel like the moon one. I find Alex is great fun and quite apt.
