The bar hasn't been well-stocked since Seathrún went on sabbatical. Do ye think we should advertise for a new barman at the Síbín? How do ye think a post on boards would look: Barman wanted for Online Ice Bar? In depth knowledge of Machines a definite requirement. Ability to speak English, Irish, German, Latin and Lisbonese an advantage. Ability to incorporate Youtube, Smilies and Six-Sigma analysis into posts optional.

How do ye think a post on boards would look: Barman wanted for Online Ice Bar? It's pastis, an aniseed flavour drink, which goes cloudy and yellow on contact with water. The closest that freely available here is Pernod, but there's a huge range of this stuff available in France, esp the south. I remember walking to work at 10am, and there'd already be old men sitting outside the cafés drinking their pastis. They'd still be there when I was on my way home too... |

| Well, my fellow citizens, what do you make of this? Do you think the Machine Nation is as expensive/cheap as these? I'd say we're more likely to be in the frothy list. |

Oh, very wise. I'm sure the interest repayments will consequently decrease. On the latter part, that'd be telling-wouldn't it! |

On the latter part, that'd be telling-wouldn't it! On the latter, Indeed. You should see the state of my pension fund at the minute. It's a fuckin disaster. I'll be owing money by the time I retire. Someone has to pay.

You should see the state of my pension fund at the minute. It's a fuckin disaster. I'll be owing money by the time I retire. Someone has to pay. Pay, well, based on the fact that international equities are flat-to-negative across the planet-it's you that's paying! I sometimes don't know why pension managers, especially for big corporate concerns, aren't all brought out to the top of their swanky banking headquarters and pushed off the top. Look at this pension fund's "performance" and this one and this oneWhere were they when gold touched $1000 an ounce? Where were they when oil prices reached $135? Where were they when property prices were rising by as much as 20% in the USA, and more? What were they doing that they couldn't make up these losses with some very basic investing that anybody that simply bothers to read the business pages could tell you about? It wrecks my head when I hear of these huge losses in pension funds. It just shouldn't happen. I know it's difficult to achieve alpha, especially in this climate, but the least they should be able to do is get beta and provide a healthy return for pension-holders. |

| Merril Lynch.. first against the wall....
Something else that bothers me is the pension cost of the inflated Irish Civil Service.
Thats going to have to come out of private sector taxes. Bummer.

It will in part, but I hope the NPRF are intelligent enough to make billions out of investment opportunities so that we can lavish our comparatively smaller pool of pensioners. It's run by the NTMA, who have made a goof fist of the National Debt. They should do similar with the NPRF. |

| Ard, How in the name of Jesus is the State going to pay this pension bill ? Think about it.
There are hundreds of thousands of them now , on massive wages, all expecting 40 80ths.
It comes from private sector taxes.
You pay tax to pay old useless farts to go on holiday !

| Now we're talking. Drinks are on me! About pensions. The public sector don't get paid phenomenal wages, especially with today's inflation. What they do pay trickles back into the coffers via the private sector. Or is there some massive capital flight scheme that I'm not aware of? It's those fuckers in the private sector treating massive profits as a sacred concept and buying overseas property. |

| Yeh, Right 905. Most of the people work in the private sector, and like we're all fuckers.. with overseas property and all..
See what I just did ! | |

There's just something about people who are rude and stupid, and think they're clever and witty. That's an angry-looking glass of whiskey...are you alright? It is an irritated glass of whiskey, admittedly. Brought on by one too many posts of sheer muppetry. Muppet: Lisbun will being in aborshun Backing chorus of weasels: You are so right, my dear sir. Contrarian: Actually that's specifically prohibited by virtue of the Protocol on Article 40.3.3 in the Treaties. Muppet: ....yeah, well, you're wrong, and you're thick Backing chorus of weasels: So true, my dear sir. Contrarian: You don't know anything about this, do you? Victim: Typical contrarian, always attacking the poster not the post! Backing chorus of weasels: Exactly what we've been saying all along. Now that that point is disproved, perhaps we can move on to considering how Lisbon will reintroduce the death penalty for 3-year olds. Repeat ad nauseam. Ad fucking nauseam. |

| I've a feeling this referendum is not going to be won on facts.
Let's face it, it will be won on softcore porn.
Come back yfg, all is forgiven
I particularly liked myksav's post accusing you of being stupid and provocative, successfully managing to be stupid and provocative by virtue of the accusation alone.
By saying you were stupid, he was being provocative.
By saying you were provocative, while he was being provocative, he was being hypocritical i.e. stupid.
Therefore, by saying you were stupid and provocative, he was being provocative and stupid.
