Questionnaire - How Did You Find Out About Machine Nation?

We are having a 25,000 posts/ four month review of Machine Nation and one thing that has come up on another thread is the feeling that we are just a bit below critical mass to keep threads moving along nicely. There is also a feeling by some at least that MN should not go into the stratosphere of megaboards where all friendliness and personality is lost. But we always need new blood to replace posters who have fled or been locked in the dungeons, or fled the whips and chains of the mods. It would help us if we knew how people are arriving here at Machine Nation.

I came across Machine Nation when it was set up. I was a refugee from P.ie, via the Refuge site set up by EVM when Politics.ie had an unexplained weeks long outage at the beginning of this year - I found the Refuge by desperately googling around looking for news of the scattered brotherhood of P.ie regulars. I almost fell off the raft when the Refuge closed down, but Auditor #9 gave me a hand into the boat and I'm still here.

How did you find out about Machine Nation ?

I found out about Machine Nation when I was tracking Indymedia comments about The Void on P.ie. During those few weeks, I was wandering the web, curious about what had happened. There, in a comment left by EvotingMachine, was the link to Machine Nation. I clicked on it and the rest is history.

I was also an Asylum Seeker but I have now happily gained full citizenship.

My application is being held in review, I suspect it will be removed shortly.

I can't rightly remember, but I was there right at the start with Audi. I think EVM had built the refuge and Audi might have been working on something else? - I think I found Audi on boards.ie - is that right Boss? Please correct me if I misremember... Did I find a reference to the Refuge on JCSkinner's blog? It all seems so long ago...

But I've been here on MN since day 1, for my sins which must have been terrible and awesome back when I had the energy for sins...

I saw the redoubtable Edo quote something on P.ie referring MN as the source. So I clicked on the link and the rest is algebra.

Kate P you were found on boards where I was myself found by EvotingMachine0197 who started it all; The Refuge was the first MN and it was EVMs but do you remember how the MySql server was being updated and there were constant outages which did our heads in so someone mentioned a free forum, I googled and voilá ...

There was as much planning in it as there is in any major infrastructural project in Ireland.

Kate is out of the loop - there has been a coup by ibis, cactus flower, EVM and Seathrún. None of us have any powers now, we're like Supermen with Kryptonite lifejackets. I was one of the first on the refuge and on MN. I came across it by googling the outage on politics.ie and then googling usernames to see if they had gone somewhere else. Evm0197 in particular cause it had the least search results. I was intrigued by the outage
