Machine Nation is [enter age here] 6 months old yesterday !!

It's unbelievable how time flies but there you have it - this forum has now been up 100 days and I'm very delighted it exists, being a quiet little corner dedicated to political contemplation and the intermittent considered and restrained rant.

A mighty big Well Done and Thanks to all the posters here who have kept the conversation flowing and going as it has been a very worthwhile project and of course without good posters it's nothing. Welcome to the new posters and hopefully if new posters come along they will at least be half the calibre of yourselves

Unlike other forums we like to make each other work here as is evident from the projects we have undertaken so far - writing of a Charter, translation of it, running of a book club, an attempt at creating a Lisbon Study Area (which could nearly be revived now) among other things. That project type work is not easy to face into after you've done your days work for The Man but certain people especially cactus flower have to be acknowledged for their dedication in keeping the projects going and the propaganda to a minimum. The Irish group have also done some great work and ibis has been tireless in his support of his beliefs and as always has enriched and deepened debates on this and other forums.

I think the forum is still very young and I think some of us revel in the knowledge that we will learn a lot more about human systems from forums like this and others. Again that is to acknowledge the posters themselves for bringing us the news and discussing it - news from America, Indymedia, the CLR, politics.ie or whereever. So let's keep it going and remember that it is as much your forum as any Ed or Content Team that may be lurking around. The content is everyone's and it has been fun, varied, eloquent, touching, passionate and engaging and at times even in such quantity as to be difficult to keep up with all of it.

It is one of the defining positive characteristics of the Machine Nation that, in its short but successful history, that it has played host to such a multitude of languages. From English to Irish, German to Latin, French to Italian; the great people of the Machine Nation have spoken each with ease. It is my hope that the next 100 days will show an equal level of commitment to these languages and build on these linguistic foundations to become a wonder to behold across the vast and undulating plains of the Internet.

Furthermore, it is this commitment to a diversity of languages which forms part of the wealth of variety which is an incredible strength of the Machine Nation. Within our ranks of over one hundred citizens we have a diversity of religions, locations, genders, politics, opinions and outlooks on life. None are excluded and all are embraced. Our Founding Fathers, Auditor #9 and EvotingMachine0197 should be given particular commendation for fostering such a truly varied atmosphere here in the Machine Nation. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!

In addition to this, the sheer activity of the Machine Nation is another aspect which must be recognises. Be it book clubs, news scrapbooks, efforts in the run up to the Lisbon Treaty vote, daily historical threads, economic discussions and so much more, the Machine Nation has done it. It is the vibrant, active and dynamic attitude which the Machine Nation displays, of which I am particularly proud. The Global Moderators of Kate P, cactus flower, ibis, 905 and myself should be commended in how they have contributed to this active and dynamic Machine Nation. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!

As well as looking to ourselves on this momentous occasion, may we also look outwards. May we look outwards to out affiliates in the Cedar Lounge. We have been associates of yours these past few weeks and it is my opinion that we have already experienced significant benefits from working with you and building links with you. In the vast and undulating Internet, it is heartening to know that there exists out there allies and colleagues. I’m certain that our next hundred days as affiliates will be as fruitful and friendly as these one hundred days have been thus far.

So now, even though we are of many languages, creeds, up-bringing and politics in the Glorious Sovereignty of the Machine Nation, we are of one mind, one purpose, one ambition: the health and wealth of the Machine Nation.

And now, as we put our first formative hundred days behind us, may we retain that founding spirit. May we maintain that common bond and unitary sense of spirit. May we sustain the Machine Nation so that it stands as a marvel for this hundred days, the next, and hundreds of days after! Míle buíochas go léir!

Maith an fear. We're better and stronger together. Those outside of the Machine Nation are our enemy. We should concentrate our resources to destroying them.

My erstwhile incarceration has galvanised my support amongst the gaeltacht. Many flock to my militia and cheer as I am released.
