What, you think I can't walk there but can pick their rawort? Neutral

It's just not on my way anymore. And I don't like walking around there anymore. I feel like a thief, sneaking around. If I walk around normally it's like nothing has changed, but it has.

I didn't know selling things would be so difficult.

Some changes suck.

If you don't grieve for the loss of something - even a field - at the time, maybe because you don't think you need to, it comes back and bites you in the bum later on; a big bite or a little bite but toothy.

Croquet? That sounds fun. I don't think you'll get your wish, it's to be outbreaks of persistent and sometimes heavy rain on Saturday. Ouch. The Queen of Hearts will have your head on a plate for that sort of stuff.

Yea it is great fun. We have an old set that was owned by my grandparents. None of us are particularly skilled at it, but it is an enjoyable evening's entertainment!

I'd say it is. I've never even seen a croquet mallet, never mind a match(that's what they're called, aren't they?) in my life. It was a word in the IT Simplex crossword recently. Mallet was the six-word croquet-related term they were looking for.

The weather's all set to improve for tomorrow. Meanwhile forest fires rage in Spain, so think yourselves lucky.

Johnfás, is there a Protestant cliche you won't fulfill? First law, now croquet. How's your yachting coming along, and isn't it terrible weather for the hunt, eh what?

Scouting Ireland Cub Jamboree cancelled due to flooding in Punchestown monday night and Tuesday night. Big disappointment for 2500 cubs.

Razz

My girlfriend is a sailor, it is certainly a very enjoyable activity but prohibitively expensive to get involved in. I also don't like the attitude of the yacht clubs towards encouraging people to get involved. I am involved (or at least was until this summer) in junior rugby coaching at various levels for the Leinster branch. The whole aim is to get as many young kids as possible interested and enthuisiastically playing the game. This doesn't seem to be the case in sailing, in most clubs to do their summer courses you must have a parent a member and there is no provision of renting boats to kids who can't afford them.

Regarding the hunt - went feasant hunting once.... not very talented there Razz!!

Was the whole thing cancelled? I have a few friends down leading at the scouts one, I had heard that the visitors day had been cancelled as I was going to drop down to take in the festivities but I had not heard the whole thing was called off.

All the cub packs due to go today got cancelled. The scouts are all still there - wet and mucky some of them. We had to send down more clothes and another sleeping bag for one of the kids.

Yesterday there were fire engines trying to pump out floods etc. but I heard the place was a mess. Some of the scout groups had to move onto sites planned for the cubs.

Ah, that's very disappointing for the kids. Although it is better keeping them at home than sending them into a warzone I guess!

That is a shame. Many boys get so much out of such activities.

Sailing in these waters is a 'invigorating'!

I was never a scouter, always a boys brigade man. Consequently I have an ability to do flips over garden walls and things... always a good talent to have, I guess...

I can also march Cool

Husband was in the Boys' Brigage too but I hadn't thought to test him on doing flips over garden walls.

Pity they don't teach ye to dance - that would be a far more useful talent to have.

Gorgeous day here today, though it's been getting a little cloudy in the last half hour.

We don't use any hot water here at all, cf, in the summer time. I boil the kettle if I need some but can manage without it in general. We've a regular visitor who likes a bath in the mornings when he stays, but other than that (or a big clean up after a party), the emersion is never turned on, winter or summer.

Got the lawns mowed, that's the main thing.

*Sotto voce* I've been hearing rumours of better weather for the next week? Can anyone back up this incredible allegation?
