| Bruton speaking - higher charges for drug refunds, hospital stays, medical charges, home care, even before the budget.
How is he suppose to speak without any consideration of what has been said - 10 minute adjournment please lads. You had one before Lenihan's speech. |

| Bruton is shouting at him for cutting out of the budget - no hits except criticising the increase in public service wages.
40% of borrowing will be spent on day to day spending - on course to double national debt in four years.
What does he want, more spent ? less spent ? Economically incoherent.

| Bruton is giving us a long maritime metaphor to do with Captains and drifting on to rocks.
At last getting around to saying its nothing to do with international factors. That should have been where it started. |

| Just back online. Jeez, this doesn't look good. 1% income levy? Nasty. Airport tax? Work car park tax? Medical cards for over 70s abolished??? That pisses me off. BTW, thanks for the various postings updating this car crash! |

| Bruton asking why no increase for tax credits for people on low incomes, disabled etc. Everyone will be paying at least 200 more taking inflation into account. Relief for people in nursing homes and so on wont get relief at marginal rates family on 60,000 or less 2,300 extra taxes. |

| What worries me is the areas into which he is continuing to pour money - large incentives to foreign companies for r and d. The knock on benefits to the country for this sort of investment is minimal. All in all, more of what got us into this mess in the first place. |

| 2.2 billion off capital programme. "Why is it knocked off".
Why is Bruton not saying how he would make a better budget? |

| Not one Minister produced their Statement of Strategy on time - a legal obligation. |

KPMG say it's €200 - €200 per space, €200 irrespective of how many spaces? |

| 1.65 Billon for housing (ie flogging all the unsold developers stock)
Less than 150 million for new export enterprises.
6.5% borrowing.
No savings in public services - all quangos to be amalagmated back into Gov departments - read the small print on that one folks.
Everybody into the tax nets - lots of slealth taxes - 2 billion sucked out of the economy at the moment it needs it most.
Tells all you need to know about this Governments priorities
No imagination - no courage - all the soft options hit.
Typical Fianna Fail - dont know why Im surprised. |

I didn't hear that bit. fuckers. When you add it all up - thats roughly what it comes to - and its all directed at first time buyers - ie getting the bottom of the pyramid scheme up and running again. |

| That's a standard fill that people who are building websites put in when they just need to fill it with text. Silly PWC obviously had nothing to write in it and forgot to delete it.
If you are ever having a website built, when they show you the template but before your stuff is put into it, that is what it will be full of. |

| Joan Bruton says
"Nighmare on Merrion Street" Middle income families mugged by the Minister - health - taxes PAYE sector are the main target.
The ultra wealthy are fine. The Government has driven the economy into th ditch, the repair bill will leave tax payers gasping. Families livelihoods have been destroyed."
Any news on Metro North ? |
