Following concerns about the number of cars being imported from
Britain and Northern Ireland, the Bill will mean an NCT assessment must
be carried out on such vehicles before they are registered in Ireland.

Very questionable. He is admitting that the measure exists to limit the free movement of goods within the common market. Very questionable indeed.

Typical - FT will probably demote him to the worst, from the second worst.

The Galway Cycling Campaign says that the new €200 levy is unfair to commuters who switch from car use to bicycle or public transport use.

I agree and think this is also a major issue for car poolers.

It's going to be implemented through the company payroll isn't it - the boss charges the staff and isn't there a provision that makes companies exempt if there are twice as many employees as parking spaces ? Could the boss of the company make people who cycle and carpool exempt from paying it and end up trading parking spaces with other adjacent companies

Dublin Cork etc. could see companies trading car parking spaces in future. Big concrete chunks of currency. Nearly.
