Would it benefit the media, the country and society if the State broadcasting monopoly were dismantled and sold, privatised like other semi-state bodies?

And who'd be first to feel the weight of the axe on his/her lily white neck?

If it means not paying a poxy licence, go for it.

At the moment I can't think of any semi-states that have been sold, unless you are counting Aer Lingus and Eircom.

I'd buy the RTE Radio One if it was for sale and try to put it back together again.

Specialist news broadcasting for a start and then a separate bunker for Derek Mooney, anyone involved in RTE reality TV and the person who chooses Miriam O'Callaghan's satin dresses....
