| On the brink of another sleepless night I'm thinking, should I give it all up and go sell Louis Vuitton? Or perhaps soemthing else, not that I don't like Louis Vuitton, but I'm more focusing on the giving it all up bit. |

No sleep is no joke. A half of Guinness can be good. Camomile tea and gentle exercise? |

As in give up your current career? Aye. I started this job 6 months ago, and though I'm well able to do it and have the stats, exam results and feedback to prove it I totally and utterly loathe it. It's not the people or the organisation, it's the job. Euuuugh. I've tried brandy, whikey, run... vallium.. |

Not so much, no. I'm no stranger to the sunday slump (and the monday, tuesday...) but lying awake from 11pm until 6am close to sickness at the thought of going in in the morning it more than a slump. |

If your sentiments are as strong as you suggest, I recommend a change of career forthwith. You're not self-actualising in your present position. Have a look in the Appointments sections of this week's papers, have a look at jobs websites and get moving to a better job. |

Taking a sicky and spending the day on Monster.ie is always an option. |

I spent 2 months off sick from an illness which began when I took the job and the cause of which has yet to be determined! I think my question is, should I take ANYTHING in the meantime and hand in my notice ASAP or hold out for something "suitable". I hear tesco are hiring. |

| Now is the time to make your move cookiemonster. You have 6 months in your present job which looks acceptable on a cv. Try for everything that looks interesting. Its usually easier to get a job when you are already in one if you can manage to hang on. Once you have made a decision you will probably feel better. |

I tried that, granted it was in the wrong industry but I don't think I'm ready for that again. Not for a while anyway. |

| I am in my current job for 12 years now but I'm self-employed so you tend to stick at it. Before this job I had 10 different jobs in 14 years. I LOVED changing jobs. Meet new people, working different parts of town, different social life, etc etc but I was an out and out mercenary. Whenever I got a better offer, I was off. Looking back I sometimes wish I had stayed at certain places but, hey, such is life. Have you travelled yet cookiemonster? Thats my biggest regret so far but I will be addressing that this year. I'm pissing off to live in Spain for a few years. Sell the gaff, pack in the job and work a bar down the Costa. I'm only 44. well young enough still.... |

Your financial background should put you in good stead for a position like that. |

| I've not travelled much, Johnny. But the urge to bugger off somewhere hot and exotic is growing by the day.
A change is necessary and can't come soon enough! |

I'm suprisingly honest in my profile, cactus. I know how Cookimonster feels. whenever I get that feeling, I get itchy feet. I guess life is too short but sometimes its good to stay and fight and sometimes its good to cut your losses and move. The trick is knowing when to do which. |

And sure wasn't there a huge article on the rise of the gulf in the Economist a few weeks ago too. I was tearing the pages. I want some of that! |

I recommend establishing a holding company headquartered in Dubai called Granulated Solutions Oman Holdings Ltd. GSOH Ltd. would specialise in the building materials industry, specifically sand and other raw materials. These products would be retailed across a number of Arabian markets. It's a winner, I just know it! |
