Chilly evening in the grandmother's church this evening where we had a service for harvest festival. The hot tea and miles of tray bakes and sandwiches more than made up for the broken heating in the church.

We had chocolate trinkets, salmon on brown bread, mini quiches, egg sandwiches, ham sandwiches etc etc. Was very nice. Part of the orientation of a Protestant Church is the fellowship amongst the community of the church, aside from just the service - especially at harvest time.

Our local harvest thanksgiving will be coming up soon too - I don't often go to church, but I really do enjoy this service.

I finally gave in and bought a clothes' horse yesterday, though...

Harvest Thanksgiving services are all the better in the countryside Kate. I was at one in a Presbyterian Church in Cavan last year - was fantastic - all the more special in areas which are dependent on the land for their livelihood.

It sounded like the end of the world last night.

It was very windy here - had to tie down the garden furniture this afternoon to avoid a repeat performance.
