Yes please. Was sitting in the car admiring both just a few minutes ago, a cold and prematurely post-harvest sky. Summer is most definitely over.

Especially as there wasn't a sight of a star here for two months with the bloody clouds. Usually here the air is so clean and clear that there are more stars than dark if you look long enough.

Remember stars twinkle, planets don't. And if you know some constellations of the zodiac then you'll notice planets moving against the background of stars. One of the first constellations I learned was Taurus - the Pleides or Seven Sisters cluster is in that constellation and is often very visible on a clear winter night high up overhead towards the west in the evening. After that, Cancer and Gemini are easy. For Scorpio you'll have to go to the south of spain or stay up all hours, maybe.

Scorpio is one of the more impressive constellations and Sagittarius next to it looks like a teapot ..

It's the only one rearing its head. I presumed because it was the only one strong enough to shine through the stars, that it was Jupiter. I may be wrong however. Although according to neave, it is the largest celestial body on show in that general direction.

As for the scorpio comment, we are known to be impressive :-)

Here neither. I'm only seeing the one. It's probably wishful thinking to hope it is jupiter, but fingers crossed. Inner city living has its drawbacks unfortunately.

I remember as a child, if I ever ventured outside during the winter in Clare, how the clear jet sky would be sewn with stars. It was all I could do to stop myself from getting a creak in my neck, or accidentally falling in the ditch. Not to mention the cold breeze lapping against my cheeks was unforgettable, though the biting wind climbing up the leg of my trouser unfortunately would leave just as deep a scar on my memory.

The sky is blistered with stars here, guys. I haven't seen so many for ages and ages. Funny little small country we live in.

Have you a digital camera? (Wonders whether there would be enough light to take a picture) I think, if possible, it would make a wonderful addition to the photos thread.

I think I lost it at the Picnic... haven't been able to find it the last couple of days.

That was a good description of Clare back in your day but now Clare is different - it's not as damp, a lot less wind blows here, it's not as cold going up the legs of your trousers, the limestone is whiter, the water isn't as wet but there are still as many stars behind the streetlights.

It was quite damp in Clare today apparently. My girlfriend lives there now, but perhaps she was in Limerick when it was raining, she straddles the two. Either side of the Shannon.

I remember as a kid there used be a collection in our church for St Anthony's bread. Being young and naive I presumed this was how you paid the local shop for ordering your bread in for you. Of course, I was also confused by the fact that the shop couldn't know who was paying the money and who wasn't. I think I spent way to much time thinking in mass.

Went off to sleep last night pondering the above - does that count as intercession? And found the camera within ten minutes of getting up this morning - in a place I had previously checked... (can you hear Audi playing the X Files theme tune in the background?).

I think it does and it illustrates the power of prayer. St. Anthony comes through for everyone.

Did he bring the sunshine to Offaly too? I'm sitting in the car having lunch out of the wind and blasted by the sun in the Taoiseach's home county. God knows the man could do with something positive. Can St Anthony help him find his mojo, do you think?
