OMG! The Precipitation from Hell! Part III

My desk faces out my window and I have a laptop so yup I'm facing out the window. We do well for windows in this house, they are fairly enormous (bedroom window is about 2.5m x 1.2m), giving great views of storms!

I usually sit out in the early morning - there's a different kind of peace at this time of night - boy racers doing donuts not too far away - feckers.

Lots of barking dogs too, usually they're quiet in the early morning.

I didn't get the pond finished - I hope it survives. I should have stayed at home today and done it, instead of going to work like an eejit.

I had that feeling looking at that, it's great having that. My bedroom would have a similar view to yourself, but I don't like the idea of the computer being up there. I'd never get out of bed! That wouldn't do! Fair play on having big windows, that isn't too common in Irish homes. Windows are usually small-to-medium here. The US goes in for larger windows than us.

The 1960s must have also enjoyed larged windows.

When I lived in Germany they had proper storms in Bavaria and Baden Wuerttemburg that would make your hair fall out if you were a fraidy cat Irish girl and if you're German you just go about your normal business, just wetter.

There's another little one - and another. I think Portlaoise is in trouble way off yonder. I can't see the lightning though.

The thunder is rolling around the place, like a massive bowling ball - it starts to the south west and rolls around to the east. Mad.

Excuse me while I rescue the washing I should have brought in earlier...

I was in a fantastic storm as an early teenager in the Black Forest in Germany. Thankfully the campsite was on a slope and my family was at the top of the slope, so to speak. Half the campsite was wiped out overnight.

All quiet here now, and rain stopped. The lawn looks so good as to be almost edible.

Yeah, and some of those poshpiles got very good architectural treatment when they were built. Those houses were very well put together and really only need good insulation to future-proof them. They're good, solid constructions. They're not like shoeboxes in Ballygobackwards.

Do you have a good wall for whacking it against Ard? I think the wall would have to be Nadal, no matter how hard you hit it, the wall just always whacks it back at you.

Rain has certainly eased off here. Nice and quiet... I'm sure it will be disturbed by the local Garda station before too long, they enjoy playing with their sirens.

You should see the windows downstairs, they're several times bigger than the bedroom ones! Thankfully we do have double glazing and also nice thick curtains for keeping the heat in during the winter.

Yes, with triple-glazing, you could live in an homage to the Botanic Gardens and still feel toasty in December.

Saw the first flash of lightning at the clothesline - and moved inside to look out the garden doors. Even the boy racers have gone home now.

The stillness is amazing. Though the insects flying around the screen are now becoming annoying. I've switched off all the lights - just waiting now for the rain to lash. How long will it be?

yeah, a wall would be an analogy to that machine. I'm a bit lethargic, so I think I'll let two sets decide the victor. None of this fifth set stuff.

Fierce clatter of thunder here. I was talking to a friend down in cork earlier explaining teh lovely weather we've been having, she advised that it was a horrible day down that end of the country.
