Internet on a go slow...

That's a curiously specific problem. I can see the whole world. Who's your ISP?

Eircom and it isn't my laptop because the house desktop has the same problem... tried switching on and off the router. Maybe it will fix itself.

I'm on Eircom and it's very slow today, many sites aren't connecting until the third or fourth go.

Did I hear somewhere that eircom's network was badly damaged by the recent inclement weather? Indeed I did.

I'm on IBB (wireless) and all is well.

My eircom went completely on Tuesday night and has been coughing and spluttering since. Tried the router option but not much improvement. It's like dial-up at the mo.

We are all using Eircom infrastructure aren't we ? Even us BT users.

Mine has sped up alot in the last 10 minutes.

Started all over again over the last few days. Rang Eircom last night and spoke to 5 different people, with 5 different causes. The last guy got me to do various things and then told me it was fixed. Surprise surprise it isn't.

Lads is it still very bad for ye? I believe it is Contention Ratios in Dublin - they're the same as dewn the country only there are fewer of us down here but the Contention Ratios are the same.

Contention is how many people can use the one line at a maximum. It's often 48:1 as a max. so it's very likely that in a small area around Dublin that that Contention is maxed out while here in my area only maybe 12 or 15 or so of us could be using the internet at a maximum - probably less.

Does anyone know whether the Dublin Metropolitan Area Networks - MANs are being used at all ? Maybe they're not - maybe Eamon Ryan will launch them along with the Smart Meter in Spring 2012 ?
