I was at the game today, really good stuff. Say what you like about BOD but he puts 100% of himself on the line every time. To get back to “schools rugby” it has to be sport in its purest form, it has everything up to and including triumph and what seems like tragedy at the time. The great pity is that relatively speaking so few schools participate. |

That looks like cognac. The web tells me it's claret. |

| To hell with all this port wine/claret/cognac malarkey, let us drink the brew of our vanquished foes this night, let us sup champagne as we celebrate in the ruins of our enemies camp, let us drink to the valour and versimilitude of our Irish IV! |

Try it now, you're supposed to see why it's not a good idea to trust the internet when it comes to drink. |

The great pity is that relatively speaking so few schools participate. The school I used work in (and I taught one of those big guys you saw yesterday, tonys) has a knack of getting knocked out in the early rounds, unfortunately and it's devastating for the kids who work so hard. They're out of the Senior Cup now and gutted. I was listening to Brent Pope on Playback yesterday talking about the All Black mentality - to be glad you got to the final is a losing mentality. There are a few schools which win regularly (and which have significant financial backing that other teams don't have, it must be added). In that light, it's hard not to see how some of the weaker teams play on a match-by-match basis and hope not to get slaughtered... |

That’s very true and they’re understandably gutted, they’ve put six years of dedication, training 2/3 times a week and dreams of glory to get to that point, for it to end in tears, literally, in the dressing room. In the end though what they remember is the good times they had & good friends they made getting there. It’s also true that basically it’s very unfair, not only do the larger schools pour large resources into the school team, but in the case of the Leinster branch anyway, they put vast amount of money & effort into the “better” schools and very little into the others, but the kids themselves know this and take that into account when judging their own success or lack of. |

| I've just rolled over the Central Bank guarantee on an Sibín Reoite. This secures the financial and monetary position of the institution for the forthcoming quarter barring a further severe deterioration in the external environment, subsequent to which we would have to extend the guarantee. I think I shall actually have some port this time. |

| And presumably you have secured a steady supply of booze and arranged for extra security on the cellar door ? | |

All those arrangements have been made EVM and are indeed underpinned by the excellent liquidity which I have ensured as Governor of the Central Bank of the Machine Nation. |

There might be enough moolah in the Sibin kitty to bail out Aib and Boi and Iceland (the Dun Laoighaire branch) but it's a pity our local currency isn't legal tender there. Poor bustards. |

Coming along just fine. I decide to rip out all the old steel gun barrel plumbing and replace it. So that brought 2 bedrooms and the landing into the deal. Its old, un insulated and full of goopy residue. I could not bear to leave it in there. And that stuff corrodes from the inside out, so you never know when it's 40 years old. Here's some of the nice shiny warm pipes going in. I also got a lot done on the shower, photos in a few days. | |

| I have pics of my brain from all kinds of angles - had the scan in Germany a few years ago... We can compare boys' brains and girls' brains and see what conclusions we come up with... |
