There are all kinds of rich mens and politicians clubs.

All this fixation of them just obscures the fact that we live in an economic system in which there is a powerful class who own the vast proportion of capital, and the rest of us who work for our basic living, home and pension, and to make money for them.

Creating bogey men and focusing on bogey organisations to my mind explains nothing.

There's a historical study somewhere that shows that in every virtually society, in virtually every age, roughly the same tiny proportion of the population are politically important. The reference to it may well be in Braudel, but it would take a while to dig up.

The Healey interview is hilarious, particularly the way the interviewer is clearly fitting things into his own worldview as he goes along.

Quote :
To say we were striving for a one-world government is exaggerated, but not wholly unfair. Those of us in Bilderberg felt we couldn't go on forever fighting one another for nothing and killing people and rendering millions homeless. So we felt that a single community throughout the world would be a good thing.

Oh noes! World leaders jaw-jaw instead of war-war! Worst thing evar!!

But it's not a bogey organisation at all. Even two years ago people were dismissing the existence of Bilderberg as a loony conspiracy theory when it is actually far from it. The intention is not to focus on them to the exclusion of what matters but rather to focus on the impact they are having on what matters. This is a very powerful group of people making decisions entirely outside of the democratic process. We have no say in what they do, little knowledge of how policy is being influenced and no control over how they use their political/media/business interests to further an agenda we don't even get to see.

Pepe Escobar is world renowned journalist and regular contributor to the Asia Times - he's very knowledgeable on world affairs having documented some of the most dangerous and urgent in many places in the world. He oufnd Bilderberg kept cropping up during his inquiries and researches on various issues and finally wrote an article about them:

I followed Pepe Escobar's quote via Google THE ROVING EYE
Bilderberg strikes again
By Pepe Escobar

Quote :
"It would have been quite impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national autodetermination practiced in past centuries ..."
- David Rockefeller, Bilderberg club permanent member, 1991

I found it quoted ad nauseam on all kinds of nutty blogs and white suprematists sites. It is part of an anti-semitic frame that looks for Jewish bankers under every bed. Where did that quote actually come from? What are its bona fides?

Escobar says that the Bilderberg group meets for one day a year. How much do you actually think they can do in terms of global conspiracy in 24 hours?

What about the G7 - why does that not get the same attention???

I think you have a fair point in saying that there is a pro-Lisbon witchhunt against Ganley. Where I part company is in the thinking that Ganley is anything other than a dangerous extreme right winger who would be in the Bilderberg group in 10 seconds if offered a sniff of it.
