| Link here. The Button Factory, Tuesday night from 8. I spent an inordinate amount of time in the Leviathan tent at Electric Picnic - attended all three nights, sad git that I am and ordinarily wouldn't be in favour of plugging events. But, there are a few here who have an interest in what goes on across the big pond and if it's as good a night as the others I've attended, it'll be a great way of spending an otherwise dull Tuesday night. Tickets, E25 - a bit steep I think but it's a decent, central venue... Everyone has to work the next day - so that's not an excuse. |

I can't spot any familiar posters in it, and I was at most of the ones in Crawdaddy (the venue shown in the pic). I will be attending this gathering, and have taken the next day off work in anticipation of a good night. |

Glad you're going, Aragon. If I see you in the catwoman rigout, I'll come over and say hello if I make it myself. |

| Who the hell is Trinity?
It's not RockofCashel - though it's not unlike Michael McLoughlin, Labour Party man in Meath who is running in the 2009 election. He's general election material, I would have thought; a very able and intelligent speaker. |

| Are you going there to kick some ass Aragon? Please leave the PVC at home - there's only so much I can take. |

| No PVC, then, out of consideration for you Audi. Damn, I was looking forward to giving the old work togs an airing. |

Will you be there too? We should have some sort of signal to identify each other, like wearing odd socks or some such. |

Well, I've been working on the costume for a while, and I think some of the new adjustments make it even more convincing. What about you? You bring out the CookieOgress costume? |

| Should be an interesting night, I've seen it advertised on P.ie. Unfortunately I won't be there, but try not to let that put you off going. My flatmates are absolutely obsessed with the US election and we're going to get in a few cans and stay up all night watching it. |

| Did anyone make it to Leviathan? I think Aragon did: she posted from Dublin. How was it for you?
How was the embassy unaligned? Many Obama supporters there? |

| Embassy gig was great although the food was a bit disappointing... Nearly all Obama supporters as you might expect. Batt O'Keefe was apparently flying the flag for John McCain, he's a man not afraid to swim against the tide! There was also a free bar so by kicking out time I was a bit |

| Talk of Caroline Kennedy as ambassador to the UN. His advisor on Irish Affairs is Trina Vargo, a formidable lady by all accounts. Perhaps she will have a role in the administration. It is interesting to note that he has appointed Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff. He is a hyper-partisan Democratic ball-breaker who has a fairly toxic reputation with Republicans. Apparently, the character of Josh Lyman in 'the West Wing' was based on Emanuel. |

Saw him on the news tonight and have to admit thought him rather appealing This is a podcast of Trina interviewing the Irish Ambassador http://www.us-irelandalliance.org/wmspage.cfm?parm1=651She described amnesty for Irish illegal immigrants as "putting lipstick on a pig" and is also described as Obama's gatekeeper on Irish matters. http://irishvoices.blogspot.com/2008/06/who-speaks-for-obama.htmlhttp://www.us-irelandalliance.org/wmspage.cfm?parm1=446
