The interesting thing is the party most favourable to him, the MQM, has abstained from the vote, thus helping its passing. Another Musharraf ally has scarpered.
He only has the army left now and there's no reason they should support a lame-duck leader, especially when they're trying to foster popular support for their operations sin the North West. So who would be running Pakistan? |

They have a government, it's just a simple matter of holding a presidential election.

Here is more food for thought. One theory goes that China is to be beaten back by destroying it's allies. Pakistan and Sudan are top of the list. Some South American countries get the chop. Then China will have only one area to get their resourses from and that is an almost empty Siberia. Let them fight it out with the Russians. That is Brezinski/obama plan.

Emm, yes thank you Cactus. Musharraf has finally stepped down, nothing really big about this story really. It was always going to happen. The poor fellow hadn't a hope. The Americans have signalled that they're happy to work through the democratic government and the military have bigger tribal fish to fry so that's that for him. All political careers end in failure as yer man said.

It looks like troubled times ahead. http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5ifvD29xQ_o2dcxR6JgkAQ4glutyw Obviously some see the coalition as weak. A destabilisation in this country has ramifications in relation to India, and the US position in Afghanistan. If it totally fragments without letting off any bombs then India is the big winner. China loses a potential counter weight against India.

Weak it surely is, but weak and unstable are two different things. They can bicker about the judiciary all they like but they know which side their bread is buttered on.
