I thought posters would appreciate this.

Broadband Ireland 2008 Broadb10

I went for a walk today in the hills near my house and came across the wonderful piece of innovation.

The aerials are wireless broadband aerials, which appear to be cabled up to a clapped our Ford Fiesta.

I'm not sure what purpose the Fiesta is serving (power? weather proofing? firewall?) but I thought it was interesting to say the least.

Fair play to whatever company set it up - necessity is the mother of invention - but I can't imagine its an image the IDA would be too keen to promote!

Patently, it's a bijou internet café. It's a rapidly-growing niche market!

It looks like something out of Mad Max II. Next time bring your laptop - put linux on it if you haven't it already and it will pick up a wifi signal surely to god...

My internet access at home is wireless from one of the local mom & pop providers.

For all I know, this post could have made its way through that Fiesta.

With a Section 23 grant, it could be your ideal holiday get-away!

My local estate agent would describe this as:

"idyllic retreat equipped state of the art technology and highspeed broadband access. Some renovation required. Offers in excess of €350,000."

Also, with F.P.P for a marvellous extension, extensive gardens. Ideal for an imaginative buyer. Free cow for first five viewers.

It looks like it might be eligible for Protected Structure conservation grants for its dry stone wall housing, too. Very Happy

Nope.

Why do you think its a border county? I genuinely can't tell you. It would be a source of embarrassment to the local hoi polloi.

The killings and the aggression and the stuff like that, is it somewhere else like Cork?

Well I took this photo off for forensic analysis and blew it up four or five hundred times so I would be able to read the tax/nct disc - here's what I came up with:
Broadband Ireland 2008 Zoom210
Broadband Ireland 2008 Zoom110
If you had a 3 megapixel camera at least then I might have a chance

Sad that Ireland has to rely on such solutions for broadband. Every
time I see that vile Mary O'Rourke on television, I remember the
Eircom flotation and her part in it. FF sold critical communications
infrastructure. That makes them traitors in my opinion.

The car registration might be of some help in locating the wifi installation. Smile
