Ohhh - the topic had gone off topic and now this !! Ard-Taoiseach you are indeed a bringer of good news - that's great !! Weyhey !
(uuoo we'll have to get a few things tidied up if we're going to be presenting ourselves to the world like that .. ) I like to bring a spot of sunshine into people's lives. Keeping it positive, I'd like to see the colour changes in quotes maintained into the future. The changes mitigate the quote-in-a-quote-in-a-quote illegibility. Agus, mar a dúirt an seanfhocal: "Tús maith leath na hoibre!" An a mhaith ar fad, caithfidh mé a rá! |

| Do you lads know much about meta-tags? I tried to put them in but got the top layer of the screen completely fu*kt up. If we had good decent metatags then maybe we could land a few more fishies...
plus you have to add the word 'bonnet' in yahoo to find here but google is good enough... |

plus you have to add the word 'bonnet' in yahoo to find here but google is good enough... Meta tags make next to no difference...any value they had was destroyed by early SEO/Search "specialists" who put in everything from "sex" to their competitors' trademarks. Google goes with the text visible on the page, the closer to the top of the page the better - so "Machine Nation - A Look Under The Nation's Bonnet" is the most important piece of text on the site. |

I think the 3 squares are for online anyway - ibis wrote:

Thanks ibis. EVM you can see the metatags entry in the admin panel in ...General>> Homepage(little box to the left) >> Configuration where you will be allowed to enter meta-tags that the search-engine is supposed to read in order to locate you but as ibis says has been abused by the youp0rn industry. So, in the light of ibis' post above I think we should change the title to something else in order to capture more viewers - any ideas ? 'Bertie' something - a look into Bertie's drawers? |

| No bertie so but 'chat political and ireland' as cactus says. How about over a cup of tea? (that's the kind of feel this place is getting i think is it?)
What about something as Gaeilge? |

| What's the vision, Auditor? The 'nice cup of tea and a sit down' works because everyone with the exception of Seathrún was on p.ie - would that transfer to a total stranger? And would it be worth mulling over any change in title for a little while until the place settles down as it is and maybe the essential self of the site emerges more clearly...? |

If this is for Google we could just put random pull words up - they wouldn't have to make sense. Then as Kate P says if a coherent theme emerges we could pop it in. |

Are ye both thinking like cactus there - random pull words, haul em in, think about the real thing later or I think kate you want it to settle down here first and maybe grow organically ... and then decide ? |

| I think Google has fairly clever algorithms these days. I suspect it's used to this kind of thing. Good indexable thread titles would probably work just as well. | |

| I think Google are watching us. A bot was searching these fora a few minutes ago. |

| there's little yahoo! and msn ones too. I tried to see if a hotbot bot would come in here but hotbot is dead.
if we had our own server we could probably try to trap a bot - i hear they're tasty |

To be fair the "sit down, have a cup of tea, talk some politics" does kind of sum the place up (eh, we're cafe politicos!), perhaps as opposed to the very combative style of p.ie? |

| ibis do you think this place looks like settling? some of us can have the best of both worlds I suppose - combative or the other - constructive. It's a bit harder to be constructive but I'm sure we'll get down to it someday.
What do ye think? Do ye think we should start discussing what this place is about soon? We could get a thread or two out of it anyway... |

Either that, or you'll have to moderate the bejaysus out of it, I think. |

P.ie is combative, indymedia is repressive, so is Boards.ie's politics section. I wonder what would happen if in true anarchist fashion, you gave everyone the power to moderate? Groupthink?
