I'm sure a number of posters are, or have been engaged in research projects. I just came across this sad story in the Irish Tree Council's site.

The largest tree in the world is a giant sequoia, found in the Sequoia National Park in California. It is only 83 m tall, but its volume is estimated at 1,490 cubic metres, making it a huge tree!

The oldest tree in the world is a bristlecone pine growing in the White Mountains in California, estimated to be over 4,600 years old.

Another bristlecone pine tree nearby was discovered to be 5,100 years old when it was killed by a graduate student, who cut it down as part of his research project.
Shocked

Does anyone have any other sad research stories?

I wonder if the moron in question was related to Dick Roche or any of the other FF gombeens?

Why, are his family involved in arboriculture?

I have no idea. But Roche's part in the desecration of Tara
would suggest that he is a plank of the highest order who has no
respect for history or the environment.
