Would companies not be inclined to try to get people to use more water so they can gain more because the water is metered?

I'm of the firm opinion that water systems and infrastructure like it should be public assets always. Maybe contract in companies to work on it here and there maybe even run it under certain conditions but as for owning it... no way hose A

did any of you argue with DaveM on p.ie about water?

Yes I did.....He was very interested in PPPs and water in particular, and got very tetchy when people brought in examples wrt Veolia....

I also agree on the impetus to increase consumption. It all just adds in perverse and unwanted incentives.

I wouldn't mind if this site could sort of sketch out infrastructural issues like this Pax - there's a layer of water schemes etc. (mentioning Veolia) that simply should be mapped, charted and filed. DaveM was great to argue with - he had all the terms and was totally convinced of his arguements although I don't think he believed in privatisation of water.

Although that Veolia company was charging group water schemes in Galway, I don't rightly remember ... I'll get a link to the threads there on p.ie

(as you can see I'm a water sign albino )
