Oh it was good, but I'm fairly wrecked so it'll be a quiet weekend for me. Is London not doing it for you? That's a shame for there is in London all that life can afford! Where are you going Oop Norrth? Are you going to Liverpool? Allegedly it's the European Capital of Culture. London is one of my favourite places, I come several times a year. However, I spent the day at meetings rather than enjoying all that London has to offer. Heading to Newcastle actually, which is good fun for socialising. Got wifi on the train all the way up so that should keep me occupied . |

| Yea they're pretty much the same place really - a sort of Northside/Southside thing, although they are technically different administrative areas. I am staying with people who attend the university so I presume we are staying in Newcastle but I haven't a notion - meeting them at the train station! |

Ah I see, that should be fun in any case. Will you be taking in a football match by the local team while you're there, johnfás? |

| Is there matches this weekend, what with it being internationals during the week? Either way we don't have tickets, will probably watch Ireland v Argentina in the pub. If there is a match and there are tickets going (which there would be - state of a club) then perhaps we might do! |

I'm cultivating a fondness for ironing lately. I time it for Sunday afternoon so I can watch Columbo on RTE 2. | |

There is indeed. The Toon Army is taking on Chelski at 3 o'clock in the afternoon but in Stamford Bridge. |

I wonder if johnfás is spending the week in Newcastle as Middlesbrough are due to play Newcastle on the 29th. I don't know if it's at home. |

The match against Middlesbrough is away as well! How very unfortunate. |

Which part was that? Do you have your locker in the Arts Block or something? |

Was in there doing some late night work (and fucking around on the net) when I went to meet my girlfriend for a burger. I got back at 12 and explained my situation but wasn't allowed in. |

I can't do trousers though. Shining shoes is another act which give immense pleasure. That and finally clearing away the HUGE pile of files which has been living on my desk for the last few weeks, even though I has to stay late to do it. That and laughing, which I did a lot of today. I hate washing clothes though. Only because my washing machine was designed by Satan. |

I hate washing clothes though. Only because my washing machine was designed by Satan. The labels on the control of my washing machine have all worn off which gives an amusing edge of risk and unpredictability to a cycle. |

| My washing machine has a knacky little timer that tells me how long is left on the 54 minute quick wash that I normally use. Yesterday it took an hour and twenty minutes to complete the cycle - but still counted it down from 54. On the other hand, I just love my dishwasher and the rhythmic thump, thump, thump of the mechanics and the swoosh of hot water. It's remarkably comforting. I call him Dan - after the Liberator himself and he is easily the most useful man in my kitchen. |

Since I changed jobs I don't have to wear the corporate uniform anymore (which is great) but on occasion when we're dealing with people outside the institute the old threads are pulled out, shiny shoes and all. - Quote :

The instructions etc are still there, they just don't seem to correspond with what the blasted machine actually does to my clothes. Kate, you're spot on about the dish washer. I am often to be found sitting on my own in the kitchen doing some research, it's most relaxing. |

| ...losing my phone. I haven't had it all day and am getting anxious. And I can't phone it because there's no coverage in our well insulated house (if it is here) and it's on silent. Losing the numbers bothers me more than anything - I've only written about half of them into my address book. |

| My girlfriend dropped her phone in Lidl a few weeks back. We rang and rang and rang and rang. Hoped that somebody would pick up. Logged into her account and saw that whoever had it was making lots of calls to Poland and ignoring our calls. Promptly cancelled it and got a new one.
I lose my phone about the house, on silent, on a daily basis. |
