Maybe we could rename the Irish version as Tír na nInneall when the Spring clean is finished, as a birthday present? ÁrdTaoiseach?

Congratulations all here, especially those who maintain all the computer fairies and goblins that keep the place up and readable. God bless the eejits who virused P.ie a year ago...
I remember Crusheen, the bridge and bend are on the southern side, it's a bit of a bugger alright...

Mná na Náisiún Máisin, fir na Náisiún Máisin, is mór an onór dom a bheith ag labhairt libh ar an ocáid den chéad breithlá an suíomh seo. Anuas ar sin, is mór an áthas orm go bhfuil an suíomh seo fós beo agus bríomhar tar éis an t'am sin! Is suíomh seo lán le eolas, gliceas, díospóireacht, spraoi agus spleodar agus mar sin de.
De réir sin, beidh mé ag labhairt libh faoin stair, daoine agus todhcaí ceangailte le Náisiún Máisin.
Mná agus fir mo thíre, as we celebrate the first birthday of our proud and promising land, it is a time in which we can reflect on the origins of what makes the Machine Nation today. Born out of necessity, our new nation soon came to be natural for many of our citizens. Our new nation quickly came to be far more than some mere temporary respite. From early on, a pioneering commonwealth was forged from the fires of our ancestral home.
Within this pioneering commonwealth, particular thanks must go to our founding fathers, without whom none of the achievements of the Machine Nation could have been possible. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
Further thanks must also go to those who joined with these founding fathers in these early days and brought such energy and enthusiasm, that it is hard to imagine Machine Nation without them. Míle buíochas cách!
Striking out to enjoy the full possibilities of our unexplored hinterland, this commonwealth grew both in numbers, activities and in interest. Now, in full flight, the Glorious Sovereignty of the Machine Nation came of age. Moving far beyond its original boundaries, it began to define itself as a magnet for ideas, knowledge and impassioned discussions across the whole spectrum of subjects.
From this nucleus, we continued to broaden our commonwealth. Together with new members and new interests, we created a truly unique realm. Our Portal bears witness to the incredible wealth of knowledge and novelty which have come to be watchwords for the Machine Nation. From economics to the environment, from tourism to transport, agriculture to alcohol, weather to war; no subject is too difficult, abstract or controversial for us proud members of the Machine National commonwealth to debate. We have an enormous archive of the efforts of our skilled and educated citizenry.
Furthermore, my fellow Machine Nationals, these efforts did not go unnoticed. Our homeland received a nomination at the Golden Spiders in recognition of its commitment and contribution to debate and dialogue.
We have taken this recognition as a spur to continue to broaden and deepen the quality of our site and the continued growth in our site membership is testament to this commitment. From a period in which our membership could be counted on one hand, we are now so numerous.
All this culminates in our apotheosis, our first birthday. It is indeed a time to reflect on all the things that we've done, but is also a time to anticipate all the things we have yet to do. We are sailing now from the embraces of Forumakers to plot our own course on the wide and wonderful web. We are sailing to a new destination in machinenation.org. With our founding fathers at the tiller, we are sailing with calm and confidence.
As our first year ends, our second is beginning. As our time with Forumakers ends, our time independent is beginning. So now, as I end my speech, the Machine Nation is at a beginning. May our todays be better than our yesterdays, and our tomorrows better than today. Míle buíochas go léir!

You wuz robbed Audi. After all AT knew what the target was. And he had the Gaeilge. But AT did coin the term 'Machine Nationals' in his Ciceronian oration and that got him a bonus. O fortunatam natam me consule Romam!

No it doesn't, as you well know . You are trying to confuse us with 'nil carborundum illegitimi'.
For those less classically educated than you and AT, 'O fortunatum natam me consule Romam' means 'Oh happy Rome, to have me as a consul' and was the classic illustration of how Cicero, the great orator, got it wrong by repeating the sounds 'natam natam' in one phrase and thus incurred the derision of his fellow Romans for his oratory in his less than modest speech. AT no doubt will a) correct my faulty Latin and my Roman history and b) take it as a slur on his fine win and c) prove that he is modest in victory, a fine Latin scholar and a gentleman.
You, I'm sure, will keep laughing

Comhghairdeas d'achan duine as ucht a n-iarrachta le bliain anuas. Bhain mé spraoi 's spórt as an chuid ama a chaith mé ag léamh roinnt mhaith na n-alt ar an meaisín. Go maire an meaisín go lá na cinniúna.

Well, you did ask. The quote in question relates to the time in which Cicero bravely faced down the Catilinarian Insurrection. The quote means, "Rome was born a lucky city, when I as Consul wrote this ditty". Though it is entirely possible that he repeated natam in one of his speeches since Cicero did of course have a st-st-stutter.

b) take it as a slur on his fine win and
Well I am magnanimous!
