| Just received a text from the mother saying that Labour have walked out of the Dáil in protest at the suspension of their deputy Social Welfare spokesperson, Roisín Shorthall. The actual facts are hard to come by as it hasn't really been reported anywhere yet but according to posters on P.ie Lenihan was refusing to answer questions about Anglo, Roisín confronted him and was asked to leave the Dáil, refused and was suspended. She then left and was followed by the rest of Labour. Apparently. |

I read that the executive has voted to sever links with the Unions like "New Labour" - it will go to the conference for a vote. |

| The Government is so little engaged with the Dail at this point that Labour might as well go and set up a parallel house elsewhere and invite people to join them. |

RTE News online had nothing about this a while ago - it just referred to angry exchanges in the Dail but Roisin whatsit wasn't mentioned. |

Now you're talking lady That was tried about 90 years ago if memory serves. I think we now need national strike to force the Government's resignation at this stage. Labour, Fine Gael and Sinn Féin should be offering to form a National Unity Government at this point after the following election and proposing a two year plan to dig us out of this shit. Top of the plan should be whatever it takes to hold the clowns, thieves and thieving clowns to account for what they've done to us. Next they need to withdraw the guarantees from any institution found to have acted improperly and then fully nationalise whatever we need of what's left(1 of the big two as far as I can tell) and let the rest collapse. They also need to address our Food and Energy Independance. We cannot afford another 6 months of this Government. They have already destroyed the financial system and they will soon have destroyed the economy too. After that they will wreck the very fabric of society by wrecking the Health and Education infrastructure. I hope the opposition parties can get their shit together with the Unions to organise a National Strike. I reckon people haven't suffered enough yet, but give it another couple of months maybe and we'll see... Get them out now. |

Get them out now. Wouldn't you be afraid that we'd just have another shlock of leeches and bloodsuckers in there in no time after this crowd were gone ? Perhaps it's stricter corruption measures we need - like this: http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Asia/Story/STIStory_336948.html |

| FF people have got to be happy. I challenge anyone to show where either FG or Lab has laid out a plan of what they would do. They just snipe lame one liners about the banks making a monkey out of the government. Very easy being a knocker so let's hear Enda the Eejit with his solutions and if I don't laugh myself to death with that I will take a greater risk and listen to Gilmore the Gimp |

| Fraid that I must stand in Tonys' corner in this one. Though we may yet have to fight for the stool as the weapon of choice. There isn't a political party in the Dáil that is pushing an argument that suggests that we should let the banks drown in the pool of their own excrement. This is all a simple game of oneupmanship, with the winner having the pleasure of sticking it to the little guy. All parties, having decided that the banks etc. are more important than the serfs, would have no choice whatsoever, but to do exactly as FF are doing. There's nowhere else the money can come from. So whilst we'll see many chimps jumping on various bandwagons, it is very advisable to read the small print in all and any rhetoric that they produce. This whole furore is nothing more than a hissy fit, designed to sway fickle voters who aren't looking at the ball, as it shoots out of the stadium. Nothing less, nothing more. Labour wouldn't have the backbone for anything else. We may see some similar action from the other idiot shortly, the one who likes to have himself compared to Michael Collins. I don't know which is more absurd, the comparison or the politics of the man himself. We should run a spot the difference competition. We should run another one, that would look at the so-called differences between the parties. |

| If anyone wants to know where Labour is going, they should look at the quiet move by the Executive last week to ditch Labour's ties to the Trade Unions. This is a clear indication that what they have in mind is not offering a socialist alternative but to take over the rightward moving middle ground in the style of New Labour.
That isn't in my mind any reason to leave FF sitting on the pot.
If we haven't the opposition party we want on the left, we have a number of choices. One of them is to make do with the ones we have - Labour, SF. the Socialist Party and the Greens? - who else is there? and the other would be to construct a new one. If the right can do it with Libertas, what is the left frightened of? |

This nonsense has been going on for 10 years. It's called disenfranchisement The PD's invented it . It's a method of not answering questions in the Dáil by opposition parties elected by a sovereign people. A good example would be the 3 months it takes an opposition TD to get a question answered on Health, because Harney arranged for the 'devolved' responsibility of her ministry. Don't give me this oneupmanship bollocks. It is not oneupmanship. It is a reaction to democratic fraud. It is a reaction to the unashamed contempt in which the people are held. The MoF was being asked a question but was more intent on getting out the fucking door. The entire party walking out was a culmination of at least 10 years abuse of Dáil protocol and out of respect for voters. And btw, the Labour Party do have a website, so don't give me this arseholery about not pushing. (Excuse the pun) What is it about the Irish that genuine people have to be ripped to shreds, yet amadáns get lifted to on high ? | |

The PD's invented it . It's a method of not answering questions in the Dáil by opposition parties elected by a sovereign people. As in the "rainbow" when after withholding information Bruton said "they never asked the right question". Get down of the horse now Tonto and mind how you go.

| Jeez tony, you have developed a very lazy method of quoting. But with that said, it would appear to be very efficient also.
Bruton Bruton Bruton ... Oh yeh now I remember the bloke. Baldy chap from Meath ?
WTF has that got to do with anything ?
See, history goes back a long time. I could throw a Cicero annunciation at you either. But I was alluding to recent events obviously.

| If you thought my scary Horror Economics thread was very couch-hidingbehind ish look at this from the Pin. I think this is more or less what happened to Iceland. - Quote :

That is a serious option which is being actively investigated by investors in the UK right now. The €7 billion that was moved into and out of Anglo for purposes of decieving the (stupid) Financial Regulator is a godsend for big investment houses which put cash into buying shares in Anglo.

*Skippy the Kangaroo noise* No, it’s just that when you said “ This nonsense has been going on for 10 years” and “ The entire party walking out was a culmination of at least 10 years abuse of Dáil protocol and out of respect for voters.” I somehow got the impression that you thought this had only started in the last 10 years and that Labour & FG were somehow innocent victims of this hitherto unknown behaviour as perpetrated by the dastardly FF & the late lamented PD’s. Just so you know it ain’t so and that no amount of feckamajiggery by you or anyone else will make it so. |

Mr Cowen explained that our future was on the line and that international confidence depended on demonstrating that the government has a plan and can deliver it. http://www.independent.ie/national-news/taoiseach-warns-ff-to-expect-no-thanks-1635210.html Dontcha worry cactus |
