| Have you bought RAM from Komplett.ie, coc? I'm probably doing that next week.
Any other suggested websites from RAM? |

Any other suggested websites from RAM? Yeah I got RAM off them a year or two ago. I'm a very happy customer. I've found pixmania to be slightly cheaper than komplett more recently but both have good follow up support for any defective products I've had to return over the years, so I would recommend either without reservation. |

| I didn't realise you could buy it on Pixmania, thanks for the heads up! Shipping is very expensive though - €12.90 for something which only costs €10 and can't weigh very much!
I have 1gb of RAM in a new laptop I got the other day and I have one free slot for expansion... anyone know if you have to match RAM... could I throw in a 2gb into the spare slot giving me 3gb or would my new computer prefer to have 2 x 1gb?
Does anyone know a good place to buy an integrated oven? If it hadn't been for a quick bit of screwdrivering our door would have fallen off on Christmas day. |

The Komplett memory selector may help you with the Ram problem, they go through make, model, etc.. and if your model is catalogued it tells you what you can expand too and the modules they have available. You should be careful about mixing and matching. As for your oven....Newry? |

| Has anyone installed an oven before? I hadn't exactly thought about it until the situation presented itself. Replacing the fridge freezer a few years ago was easy... you just unplugged it (socket on top of kitchen fitments) and pulled it out, replaced and plugged back in. The oven on the other hand is more integrated and is wired around the back of the fitments with a fuse box thingy in another cupboard. I suppose you have to hit the power to the kitchen, open the fuse box and disconnect. Then remove the oven and replace and hopefully manage to get the new cable back into the cupboard from around the back of the fitments. UNLESS... I can cut the cables at the oven end and use the same cables and just reconnect them to the new oven. Any opinions? Perhaps we should call an electrician |

| Have you an image of the oven or similar so I can visualise johnfás.
Ovens normally have a switch on the wall above or close to the oven. If not then you will have to find the fuse and kill the power there.
Usually the power is connected directly to a power port on the back with clamping screws. There will not be a lead and plugtop as usual with domestic devices.

| Here is a picture of the overn - would be over 20 years old at this stage: Then in the cupboard next door to the oven you have this which cuts the power to the oven when you flick the switch: |

| That looks like a fairly standard 600mm oven to me. Flick the switch and turn on the oven to ensure it is no longer live.
Pull the oven out, and you will see a thick grey cable, twin and earth, attached to the back. There may be a protective plate over the connections.
If the oven is up high, have a trolley or table handy to sit the oven on, as the cable may not reach the floor.
Measure height and width of space - width should be 595mm thereabouts - and off to Power City with ya.

| So I simply disconnect at the oven end and reuse the cable which is currently in situ? |

Yep. It is hardwired at the oven end because ovens use so much current that plugs and sockets etc. are a hazard. It would be similar to an electric shower. A big philips screwdriver will do the job. Make sure the connections are tight when you put the new one in. The wires are usually turned aroun the screws half a turn or so. You'll see when you are taking the old one off. Just pretend the oven is a giant plugtop and you can't go wrong.

| Great, thanks for the help! We'll get cracking on that on the weekend. This looks like a good one. http://www.powercity.ie/?par=45-40-ZB330XWould get the cheaper but it is handy enough to have the timer on it and that is the cheapest one with a timer. |
