| The LA Times has reported that PETA members have been found to be higher than average consumers of leather goods (Gucci bags) and only average in terms of vegetarianism. Isn't it time they got real and packed up their sad campaign. I have just bought my niece a nice little wolfskin jacket and will be proud to bee seen along side her in my racoon hat. Won't you all admit you think the anti-fur campaign is pure hyposcrisy? |

Cactus I am so surprised at you. I've been anti fur forever. The idea that you'd wear a wolfskin jacket repulses me. It's hardly a sad campaign when you've seen the images of peeled foxes - and wolves. Seriously. Have you no conscience? |

What do you think happens to the outside of those nice leather shoes you are wearing? Just because they are not fluffy doesn't mean they weren't live. |

No, I don't. A large proportion of furs still come from trapped animals. Wearing them is an appalling act, and one I have no respect for whatsoever. PETA are loonies, but leather use and vegetarianism are completely irrelevant to the question of wearing furs. Don't kid yourself. |

| Ha! I don't wear leather. Bananas are an entirely different animal - oh wait; they're not |

| And by the way, apart from the leather, which as ibis suggests is a bit of a red herring, fur farming goes against every natural instinct of man. Talk about hypocrisy! You wrote a thread about your Utopian vision of self-sufficiency. Where does the harvesting of fur fit into that? I'm so surprised at you cf... |

| Avoid the issue, why don't you? Picture it: Mounds of peeled foxes and mink and other animals lumped together like something from a burial pit. It's vile and senseless and horrific and makes me despair of mankind. (and most recreational leather, just so you know - is artificial) |

It is still perfectly possible to hunt for fur, even in Ireland. My first fur stole was made from mink skins cured by our local taxidermist. I got them by burying a length of waven pipe next to the river and baiting it with trout fillets. A quick bang on the head with a golf club and thats it. They are horrid agressive little things that eat all the native indigenous wildlife and have got it coming to them. I think Kate should get over all this girly nonsense and get into the furs that she so richly deserves. |

A nice bit of italian goats hide I expect. |

Cactus I see you with new eyes, for the cretin you must truly be to write something like that - never mind actually do it. |

| Cretin yourself. Strutting about in shiny boots up to the elbow and complaining about my little hat.
Get over yourself |

| The reason you are focussing on anything other than the fur issue is because now that you've started the thread you realise that you've nothing to substantiate your outlandish comments - and you know that if you did you'd lose all credibilty. All fur coat and no knickers, yourself. |

I don't approve of fur-wearing because it encourages commercial trapping. Personally smacking your local minks over the head is rather different in scale. I do know about mink - Cavan was full of the evil little buggers - but cats are just as bad. My objections are not based on the fact that the animals involved are furry or cute, I'm afraid. You wear furs, you encourage trapping in areas that need no such thing. Very straightforward. Do you know where your furs come from? |

| Now you are talking Ibis: a cat hunt would make a lot more sense than our local fox hunts. |

You've read her posts, ibis. Do you seriously think she cares for one minute about the fact that fur farming has introduced an animal to our shores that has no natural predator and is wreaking havoc with the food chain. Not a hope. |
