| It isn't that shocking that the Belgian Government has fallen... it would have fallen regardless of the financial crisis, just waiting for an excuse... they have been unable to form a functioning Government there for about 18 months at this stage just the King wouldn't let them have another election. |

| Yvew Leterme says he wants nothing to do with a new government. He will be concentrating on clearing his name. You can't blame him really. The Courts intervening in the financial crisis and stopping the sale of a bank is a total mess. If people are not going to row in with you then there is no point in running a lame duck government. Belgium seems to be a bit of a zombie country at the moment, yet the rubbish is not building up in the streets. A country functioning without a Government demonstrates perfectly the limited importance of democratically elected politicians. |
