Seems Dempsey has found his balls. Must have been all the talk of bank nationalisation going on.

Aer Lingus will be resuming 2 Shannon-Heathrow flights per day. Dermot Mannion claims they can do this because of new lower landing charges at SNN but on Morning Ireland there was a suggestion that Dempsey threatened to sell shares to Ryanair.

Good news for the region I am sure... especially now that they have links to both Charles de Gaulle and Heathrow.

More likely that he found someone else's.

Lots of guff going around about this announcement. Aer Lingus are claiming that agreements with staff that had reduced the cost base have created a climate where the route can be profitable again, despite the fact that it had been profitable before they decided to pull the plug.

Many see this move as an effort to dampen the hatred wafting Willie O'Dea's way as the debacle that is Dell begins Limerick's plummet back into the dark ages.

I'm afraid I'm with the cynical camp on this one. Maybe Aer Lingus have scented the blood in the water and aim to profit from the predictable attempted exodus from what is soon to be an economic black hole. It's my hope that Aer Lingus discovers to their loss, that even light cannot escape a black hole (excepting maybe some Hawking radiation).
