In the spirit of mixing the seasonal with the political, posters may like to try their hand at reinterpreting a Christmas favourite for a bit of fun.

I did this one below for a thread on p.ie last year - amazing to see how uncurrent the current affairs of last December are now. It was sung by Bert-a Kitt.

Quote :
Paddy Baby, slip some money under the tree,
For me.
Been an awful poor boy, Paddy baby,
So hurry down the chimney tonight.

Brendan baby, a check for four and half thousand grand,
On demand
Don't wait for me to repay,
Brendan baby, just hurry down the chimney tonight.

Think of how I'll cook the books,
If don't want to spend another night at St. Luke's
Next year I could have my own four Walls,
If I could one of them cunning and devious crooks,

Michael baby, I wanna gaff so all the blueshirts
can't laugh,
30k will see me just clear,
Michael baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Michael honey, there's one thing I really do need,
A deed
Beresford Avenue's fine,
Michael honey, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Dessie Cutie, for Celia and to pay off the ex,
I need checks.
Sign your 'X' on the line,
Dessie cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight.

Celia, come and trim my Christmas tree,
Eleven grand of furnishings don't come for free
I really do believe in you,
I don't know why they don't believe in me,

Mahon baby, don't punish me for all of my lies,
Pork pies.
I'm a lowly rat in an anorak,
Mahon baby, just hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry down the chimney tonight,

If you can get your hands on the Horslips album ' Drive the cold winter away' there is a fantastic version of 'Don oíche úd i mBeithil'

You'll be transported to the middle ages.....or between 1970 and 1974 at least.....similar eras all in all
