| Being a lifelong skeptic I thought that I'd seen it all. Reality has a way of knocking that delusion for six. I see 'psychics' and other purveyors of 'woo,' as being very dangerous and criminal, and I regularly take part in debunking them. It's not something that I devote a considerable amount of time to, but, nonetheless it's something I feel quite strongly about. As a kid I was quite mad about magic tricks and would leave family and friends in awe with my skill at prestidigitation and misdirection. Later on, this fascination turned into a fascination into the workings of the mind. I suppose this naturally set me on a path to collide with those who hurt innocents by using trickery to extort money or those involved in coercing folks into bypassing medical advice, etc. Anyway, I came across this today and I dunno whether it's someone having a laugh or whether it's in earnest. Here's a quote: - Quote :
- Out of desperation and concern for Bubba's emotional health, we finally
called in a pet psychic. I know. You think pet psychics are scammers. I did too until I saw how Bubba, who usually hisses at everyone prior to hiding under the couch, had full trust in the pet psychic immediately. The tears welled in my eyes as I saw Bubba purring in contentment while in her lap. I knew at that moment she was the real deal.
Through speaking to Bubba telepathically, the psychic determined that Bubba is so shy because HE is really a SHE. Bubba is transgendered. Bubba suffers from low self-image and has been mentally distraught because she has been forced to live in a male cat body for so long. Now Bubba's owner is trying to raise money to have the allegedly confused kitty sexually reassigned.
I'm not posting this to ask do folks think this is a hoax. I'm posting because I'm interested in your general views on 'psychic phenomena' and other activities that go beyond limits defined by science and so-called 'common sense.' |

| I am thinking America and I am thinking, if not America, then a pisstake (pusstake?)
Still, its the best thread title I've seen in a good while.
I like the way the poster said "I think pet psychics are scammers" - presumably human or android psychics are sound as a pound? |

| You never get cats with senses of humour who tell the psychics that they are cats on the outside but rats on the inside. |

| Where do you stand on the Laws of Attraction, Hermes? (In a completely different context, it's fairly clear where the cat stands... ) |
