From what little I know part of the problem with these things is that, like some mines, they may not necessarily contain metal.

Imaging what it would be like if rural Meath was covered with cluster bombs! It would sharpen your views to those that dropped them. What was it 6 people a day in Southern Lebanon injured by these things. Collateral damage, or just pointless slaughter.
I can think of a ranch in Texas or a residence in Pennsylvania Avenue that I would like carpeted just to illustrate how inconvenient they make life and how difficult they are to remove.
