I think Christy Moore is going to be performing there so you could go see him. |

grump grump grump Me too. Definitely going to go next year. I wonder will I be able to afford it this time next year! I am getting genuinely worried about the economy going down the tubes. How is the new job going? |

| I know it's early to be home but I have a pile of work to do and have a bed close enough for it not to matter at this stage .... ... the Stunning - even this early in the weekend, look like being the highlight of the festival. Goldfrapp were good and very popular and Sigur Ros, while I tried hard to want to like them, really I did, I just couldn't warm to music that I associate with a facial or other beautician experience in a huge field with thousands of people. Had a go at the Salon du Chat which I really enjoyed (and will have a go at again tomorrow), the Camembert Quartet did their thing in the Leviathan tent which was followed by some debate about multiculturalism. Judgement reserved on that for the time being. And did some poetry which was really, really good - Tony Walsh, Jessica Peart and another guy who performed some terrific modern love poetry. And had time for a made-on-a-wicklow-farm Tiramisu ice-cream. Arts Council tent is the disappointment so far - there's nobody there and no indication when Ann Enright et al will be speaking. |

| Sounds like a good first evening. I feel the call of tents and fields. I think I'll go and sleep out in the garden in the Yurt tonight. Cheers |

| Home from the picnic and yes, I missed the Sex Pistols because I'm just wrecked and, as Scarlett O'Hara said, 'afterall, tomorrow is another day.' I spent most of my time in the Spoken Word area, which meant really moving between the Arts Council tent and Leviathan so I got to hear Roddy Doyle, Anne Enright, Chris Binchy, Eamon McCann, Mark Kurlansky, Bisi Adigoun and lots of the Camembert Quartet, and perhaps even Qu1zmaster's poetical sister. I enjoyed the lot immensely. Full credit to Naoise Nunn for Leviathan. Friday's debate was dire (but I hold Ian O'Doherty to account for that), but last night's and tonight's were much better. Musically, sadly, I heard very little, really, but I did love the Stunning, didn't get to Josh Ritter except for ten minutes of songs I didn't know but which sounded like songs I did know. Best, unsurprisingly, were the smaller bands in the smaller tents and shacks. Favourite of all was the Arcadia area and the fire dancers. Roll on next year.... |

| How can I break this to you Cookie? I watched them for about half an hour and left, not because they weren't good but because the atmosphere was all wrong. They were the one band there, I'd say, who could have done with a smaller, even more intimate venue. It didn't work for me. The music didn't carry across the fields like I'd expected it to, it was just all wrong, unfortunately. I know I'm not the only person to have been disappointed in that way. |

| I found that abot Sigur Ros the first time I saw them. I could tell that it was sublime, but that didn't mean I liked it.
This year, we didn't even bother to stay in the festival grounds while they were on. We watched them for a while, but could hear them just as well from the street outside, and it was just like beautiful background music. |

Did you get near Leviathan or have a go at Salon du Chat? |

- My reply the other day got lost in the ether. We will manage it next year but probably from coins down the back of the sofas. After that, we will have to make our own amusement. I will throw the cactus gardens open, put up the yurts, and invite ye all to bring your whistles and drums for a summer frenzy/fantasia.
I didn't have to pay for my ticket - but had to work for it, which meant that I didn't get to see a lot of what I had hoped to - especially yesterday. But like you, I'll be fishing down the back of the sofa. Found a small fortune in the husband's pockets this morning in a pair of trousers he'd left in the wash basket...it's a good start! The cactus gardens always sound lovely...maybe someday, somewhere, we'll have a festive, MN gathering, examining the workings of machinery, looking at weeds, making each other sandwiches... |

Leviathan is often fun, and I'm not sure if there was a Salon du Chat last year. Did you go near the cookery stage at all? |

Did you go near the cookery stage at all? Went to the Salon du Chat last year. Thanks to whoever provided the free ice cream. |

| Soha in the World Music Tent blew my head off. Sex Pistols were excellent. Stood right up the front and pogoed for an hour and a half. Got soaked to the skin watching the Temple burn very very slowly. Did anyone else hear the crowd sing Amhrán na bhFiann ? I thought it was very strange myself. Had a brill weekend. Looking forward to next year already |

TheBear, no, I didn't get to the cookery tent; with all the spoken word stuff going on, I forgot all about it. |
