Births

1870- Andrew Joseph Lambert McKenna was born in Dublin. He became a Jesuit and collected and edited religious and folk poetry in Irish. He died in 1956.

1958- Michael Flatley was born in Chicago. His parents are Irish.

1977- Bryan Budd was born in Belfast. Cpl Budd was killed in Afghanistan in August 2006 and awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross.

Deaths

1990- Robert Blackburn, educationalist, born in Sligo in 1927.
