Johnny Logan; the Irish/Australian singer was born on the 13th May 1954.

John Dalton, Private 17742, 2nd Bn., Royal Irish Fusiliers, died Thursday, 13th May 1915, age 17.

An extraordinary sitting of the House of Commons occurred on the 13th and 14th of May, 1878. At past two o'clock in the morning the House went into committee on the Sunday Closing (Ireland) Bill, which was supported by some of the Irish members, but strenuously resisted by others.

Not quite on the 13th May but around this period in 1921 there was a major surge in IRA actions to coinicide with British elections in Ireland and to display the ease with which the IRA was able to operate despite the claims of the British government. It was our own little TET Offensive.
