Righteo lads, ó ham go céile (from time to time) I will be posting up simple little games as Gaeilge, for those of you who wish to improve your cúpla focal. These may be simple cluichí grammadaí (like syntax word order rearranging, putting words into the past tense etc), word association games etc to build up your vocabulary. They shouldn't be too taxing, but are aimed at those who feel they have lost most (if not all) of their Irish ón scoil. Depending on the demand (if there is any Wink) I'll try to put up more.

The first game is a simple picture association. Simple enough, I post up a picture of something, the next poster gives me the Irish for it. They then post up another image, and so on and so forth. Thsi allows for word association between the image and the word, for those who are so inclined in their learning styles.

Right first off.

You think I knew 'uaireadóir' off the top of my head? 'Amharclann' came to mind so I tried that. I knew 'clog' wouldn't work. Why is 'newspaper' so hard? Is it because the Christian Brothers would hit us with their leathers every time they caught us sneaking a peak at the Irish Times under our desk when we were 8 ?

Try www.englishirishdictionary.com for help. This is about acquiring new vocab after all, not a test of your existing one.

Tá sé amh. It's normally tá with adjectives, and is with nouns or as I say tá sé adjective, is noun é.

(another difference though is, 'is noun é' and 'is é an noun')

Nó is or and ná is nor.

If more get involved in it, I plan to put up a few more.
