There'll be a live webcast of a EU hosted event Monday morning at 11 am, streamed through euireland.tv. Questions are being taken in advance at euireland.tv - maximum of three online questions being asked, and the clearer they are the more likely they are to be asked!

The list of speakers includes:

* Dick Roche TD, Minister for European Affairs
* Joe Costello TD, Labour Party Spokesperson on Europe and Human Rights
* Lucinda Creighton TD, Fine Gael, Spokesperson on European Affairs
* Senator Rónán Mullen, Seanad Éireann (NUI PANEL)
* Joe Higgins, Socialist Party
* Sarah Carey, Columnist, Irish Times

The discussions will be chaired by Kevin Rafter.

Is that your company again, ibis? Good luck with the thing, hope it goes without a hitch (and that Rafter is better than Halligan for the questions thingy)...

Thanks! I can see where Halligan was coming from, though - the questions were..well, raw...which meant that some of them were basically p.ie troll posts with a question mark stuck on the end.

I'd love if MN people asked some questions - surely there must be something people would like to ask Dick Roche!

ibis that's a good show. In fairness you can sit there and troll away on the little typing screen - it doesn't annoy people does it ? I mean, if people were into more sitting around on Monday morning and trolling a political website - when they should be out looking for a job btw - and less into violence, gun crime, cleptomania and black-marketeering then I think it would be a much better world if Dick Roche could put up with a few rotten tomatoes thrown at him.

Embarrassingly the only question I'd have for him would be on the Galway crypto /water babes issue or maybe on Tara Idea

I'm sure people would mature after a little bit of exposure to it though. Phases always have to be gone through, such as Alpha waves.

Could you ask him what he's doing to bring EU and other forms of democracy into the homes of everyone in Ireland ? How would he change the Treaty so as to make it much more democratic than it already is and if he's happy with the whole parlimentary system in an age of technology the likes of which he is featuring on while simultanelously being assessed and commented on by hundreds of intellectuals all over the Hibernet.

Those are good questions, Audi. Could I ask you to put them in here - ideally as three separate questions.

Sorry, I was being a tad facetious before...

He might also be asked whether, in this age of cutbacks and the ending of certain universal entitlements, the millions spent upon the re-run causes him any embarrassment. And also whether, in the event of a second 'no' vote, this time the Government might actually stand by the decision of the Irish people, rather than work with foreign governments to counter it...

We'll get the second one a lot, I imagine...I'll throw them in to the mix.

tonys should ask a few questions for Dick or someone - he's fighting a good fight on the other thread there.

Has lucinda got any questions about FG belligerence/bellicosity or whatever you'd call it ?

So is the theme "An unclear horizon" ? Does this refer to how we are not grasping the ins and outs of the Treaty ? I wonder why that is ...

It'll be amazing if it's a second No vote but I think out of total fear we'll vote Yes. If you saw Eddie Hobbs last night on the Late Late he was saying that next year a "Wall of Cash" will hit the world economy just before Christmas next year. This is the stuff which will have built up both concretely and emotionally i.e. cash is getting horded now which will be unleashed on the world in about a year plus people will be sick of just making ends meet and anyhow there will possibly be a whack of debt paid off in the meantime and folks might start to loosen up a bit.

In a year there will be about 70 million more people on the planet too - that's a good few more mouths and arses demanding food and nappies...

That wall of cash one needs to go back to the Deflation/Inflation thread - its a huge issue. With more money around and reduced production, hard to see how there wont be an explosion of inflation.

This cool Ibis = when did you say we have to post our questions by? We will be able to organise a good heckle here and get the link/screen onto the portal, will we?

Can people go along to the live event too?

Ibis, will the webcast be available for watching afterwards? I don't think the Wallstrom one was. Whether I watch it live or not depends on how things are in the office at the time!

Think I got a notice about this event during the week. Am obviously still on some very out-of-date email list somewhere over there Rolling Eyes

Old email lists...they never die. I'll set one up for euireland.tv itself when I get a moment!

I think that's invitation-based, although frankly I suspect if you wandered in you wouldn't have a problem. It's not like these events are over-subscribed...

Will I put up a link to this ibis ? Interactive political discussion .. perfect material for the little politics panel or a more prominent place. This site gets millions of hits every decade month you know. I should put up the ratemyhospital one too.

The camera angle of the last one was a bit far away... who does the filming and will that be a little different this time ?
