The free off-peak travel for over 65s is a good idea - it costs next to nothing. Is there anything else that could be free for pensioners, without cost ?

Now you're thinking ! That's definitely the way to start thinking - who gives two flying damns about the free market when you're on death's doorstep ?

Pension managers are incompetent, overweened, inert wastes of time. I wouldn't bother with any of them except for Zurich/Eagle Star. The rest of them should be sacked for the utterly unsatisfactory job they do. In many cases, even after years of the last bull market, these funds had deficits and funding requirements left over from the dot com crash.
