As Defender of the Tealogical Faith, it is my joyful privilege to inform the Machine National Commonwealth that the humble teabag is 100 today. Truly a wonderful invention, let us pay homage to it.

The Teabag: 100 years of sterling service Teabag

You give yourselves so that we can enjoy the Hallowed Brew. I salute you!

Smile That can be arranged, if we are prepared to risk another referendum which turns out the wrong result. Wink

Have you considered that the tea bag heralded in the catastrophic decline in employment opportunities in fortune telling? Many were forced to learn other trades like accountancy.

Very Happy

I have considered that and I think it a good development. Fotune tellers were not interested in the tea itself, but what truths they could bully out of it. That is sad. That is an outrage. The tea bag ended those indignities. Tealeaves can inhabit a safe environment within the tea bag. All hail the tea bag!

I am a Lyons man myself but my private poll has shown that Barrys will race away with this. Paddy Power have stopped taking cash a le the Lisbon Count and the Betfair market has totally skewed towards Barrys in the last 10 minutes. Sound like JP McManus and the boys have taken an interest.

There have been tea parties (of the Boston variety) chez Kate P in recent weeks. Mother has moved in (with brothers) while some major work is done on the family pile.

The Fair Trade stuff - which the only tea drinker in the house was heretofore perfectly happy to drink - has been unceremoniously tossed overboard in favour of the emergency red Barry's box which has since unceremoniously followed the Fair Trade stuff overboard and been replaced by the green Barry's box.

All's changed, changed utterly.

Don't see an Earl Grey on that list, AT... It's the only one I like; leaves, not bags though. These are handy knicknacks for one-cup tea preparations.

I'm afraid many of you are missing out on one of the great pleasures:

Organic Darjeeling (black tea, not green, and Fair Trade if possible), with a little milk added. No sugar please. Brew it patiently, for a few minutes. Darjeeling is a lighter colour than the others.

But note: It has to be loose tea, not teabags. That means leaves, and not dust, which is what teabags usually contain. Use a strainer.

And finally, do not use fluoridated water.

Also missing is fine Moroccan tea and Japanese tea. The Moroccans use a variety of their tea and when the tea has nearly drawn they add a good branch of mint and some sugar into it. Then they pour it out of and back into the cups or glasses several times to mix the flavours.

Mmmm.

What is fluoride meant to do to us, Soubresauts ?

Well, that's not exactly what I'm going after with the poll. I'm looking to see which brand names Machine Nationals prefer as their ideal brew. If I was to list out the varieteas[sic] Wink , I'd have a poll list which would put the fissiparous Italian political system to shame.
