Exhibitions at the Moment
Three art exhibitions around Dublin that I thought I would bring to your attention.
1) Hugh Lane - 100 Years.
The complete Hugh Lane bequest is currently on show at the Hugh Lane Gallery at the moment. There is an interesting history behind the Hugh Lane Gallery. He appeared continuously in two minds between where he wanted to give his art collection to after his death. Consequently his collection is shared between Dublin and London. This is the first time since 1917 that the entire bequest of 39 paintings has been exhibited together.

2) Impressionist Interiors at the National Gallery
This exhibition features 46 paintings by some of the most famous impressionist painters of the period including Manet, Monet, Renoir and Degas. I was at it last week and it is a fairly good exhibition of the works. Tickets cost 10 euro and the exhibition runs until 10 August.

3) Etchings from the Rembrandthuis at the Chester Beatty Library
The Chester Beatty Library is particularly adept at bringing some marvellous exhibitions to Dublin combined with free entry. Last years DaVinci sketches was a wonderful experience. This exhibition features many articles on loan from the Rembrandthuis, Amsterdam with 75 original prints on loan. Entrance is free and though I have yet to visit I would imagine it is a must see. The exhibition continues until 14 September.

The 39 paintings include works by Edouard Manet, Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. In addition to the works from the Hugh Lane 1917 Bequest, the exhibition presents work by key Irish and international artists including William Orpen, Nathaniel Hone, George Russell, Antonio Mancini, John Singer Sargent, J.B.C. Corot and Auguste Rodin.
