Where is the none of the above option?

Man - just looking at the titles of those makes me tired!

BTW - have read all of them except for the smolin one at the end - and Im not going there again - especially that one on the EU!

Well Edo - just to encourage us - which one made you feel least tired?

What happened to I Hear You Paint Houses. Someone else recommended it and I also think it is a good pick so I am holding off for my 1 2 3 for a while.

You're better off as we only allow you to vote once every 4 years here. Cast your vote for feck sake - we don't have enough people here besides - why boycott it? Use your imagination - what would you vote for IF you were voting? You're from the biggest democracy in the world and you don't want to vote - jaysus it wouldn't kill you to tick off some boxes and press send now would it?

I'll be reading it youngdan and if its a good read I will put it up for the next book in a month's time.

Jaysus Audi they're all a little delicate of a Friday evening - don't they know people died so we could vote.

I would not dream of not voting I was just waiting to see if this were the final list of options. As I have read none of these options I will be happy no matter what.
I have picked my 3 but if it is just 1 option I will go with the EU one.

And it's Klein and Stiglitz/Douthwaite neck and neck with Patten a nostrilhair behind....

Rubicon is a fluent and fluid exposition of the social, historical and political evolution of the late Roman Republic/Early Roman Empire.

It is an easy, yet substantial read.

Douthwaite and Stiglitz have the edge, with Klein and Booker coming up behind neck and neck.

Edo's revelation that he has read all of them made me feel inclined to cry.

Can we put the book club off til tomorrow please - I'm not working anyway, and it's more like Sunday then no? I'm off for a drive today and don't think I'll be back in time. I'm reading about Japan now and it's interesting me. I'd like pay a bit more attention to it now too as it's getting serious with the First world problems now appearing.

By the way, if you look for Tikopia and Howth at the same altitude in google earth you will see they are of the same size, Tikopia being slightly smaller and the lagoon occupies one third of it.

Also learned that Edo was the name for Tokyo once - any relation?

The Japan chapter in Collapse? Keep an eye out and see if he mentions the fact that the Japanese import tons of wood, contributing to deforestation outside Japan. He mentions it at the end but I think he ignores it in the actual chapter on Japanese forestry, which I think is a bit of an oversight.

Hi Audi - yes I'd like to put it off too - I'll turn up on-line in case anyone else wants to chat about Collapse and I'll do a bit of reading. Tomorrow would be fine. I'll pm anyone whose name is on the thread to let them know about tomorrow.

Who gets the casting vote if it ends up a draw between the two pairs of books now in the lead? That's what I want to know.... I had thought of throwing in another option, just to shake things up a bit

That sounds interesting, I don't know if it'll be accepted as another book to look at since (I believe) we're supposed to nominate one this evening.
